Please describe your surroundings so that we can all settle in together.
We are currently in the van, driving to a small Belgian town where all the people talk very slow. Loeke has just eaten cauliflower and everything stinks like farts. Sybe is driving, helena is writing. Amanda is, as always, sleeping.
Please introduce the band and what each person brings to Maria Iskariot.
Helena is the founder and child star of the band (because she is a genius and has the biggest ego), Sybe is the CEO (because he has a dick), Loeke does the human relations (because she is very nice and friendly and we are not) and Amanda is the intern (because she is an immigrant) but we are considering to promote her (because she learned Dutch).
Where do you call ‘home’?
We live together in a yellow farm, with flowers and and a greenhouse, six cats and a donkey. It’s just around the corner when you are following the road to heaven (or to hell – depending where you come from)
How did the name come about? Who is Maria Iskariot? Did you have any other names in the hat and what were they? Somebody reading this might need them.
We were all raised by nuns and our little hearts were filled by the lord’s joy. But then we found guitars and now we love dissonance and ripping loud music. It has something to do with human duality or stuff.
The name could have been Judas Christ but that’s very lame and also to close to Judas Priest.
“Leugenaar” is the latest single, what’s it all about?

Where do you find inspiration for the music and lyrics?
Porn, perversities, Weltschmerz and cuddling with Sybe stinky, blind Shih-Tzu Sofietje.
How do you go about writing a new song? Music first? Lyrics?
