ADAM ROBSON

DRUIDS ARMS, PENRITH

SATURDAY 4TH JUNE 2022

The Druids Arms in Penrith is a small and friendly pub and a welcoming venue for 3 top turns on a sunny summer Saturday evening.

First up, Adam Robson did his one man band thing of (mostly) original songs, giving a first public appearance to his new bleached blonde California surf dude hair. He did a fine job in getting positive vibes from the audience, especially the bloke propping up the bar. Catch Adam live soon so that you can claim to have seen him before he became a megastar.

After 30 enjoyable minutes, Adam was joined by his dad, C.J.Nuke’em for a COMBOgarage set of psychotic surfin’ trash. Most of these songs are 40 years old now but still sounded fresh, given new life by Adam’s energetic playing and harmonies.

Headliners GRIPPER were the local heroes, with some of the punters happily singing along to all the songs. Singer Gordon has a charisma all of his own and, like COMBOgarage, their own songs are punchy and irresistibly likeable. They even delved into local legends The Sconeheads back catalogue and dusted down ‘D’ya Want Duffed’ and the world was a better place for two minutes.

Full credit to the venue and all the acts, young and old, for a fine evening.
