Georgia Tuohey…..A Clunk Back and Forth Interview

Hi Georgia……welcome to the Clunk universe.

Georgia, you have a fabulous voice, when did you realise that you could sing?

Thankyou! I think it was in primary school, I used to sing in the playground corner to my friends because I was scared, that’s my earliest memory of singing.

I believe that you have spent time working as a songwriter. Did you find it frustrating that you weren’t performing your own songs?

I didn’t find it frustrating in the sense that I wasn’t maybe progressing as an artist, I don’t really have the personality type that wants to be famous and the focus point all the time, I enjoy what I do and have always loved creating ideas for other people. In recent times, it has been really great to perform my own songs and see how they are received.

What was the first song that you wrote, what was it about and was it any good?

Ha ha it was probably very terrible! I have no idea what my first song was about, probably a boring love song. I do remember being at my nanas when I was about 8 and I wrote a song, I think that was about her Yorkshire Terrier.

Your current single is ‘Bath Water’. Could you tell us about the song?

Bath Water has been on a bit of a journey, it started off as a completely different song about ten years in a tiny studio room in Manchester. Now it’s been released, the story behind it is basically a close friend, who has had a string of idiotic male partners and constantly repeats this cycle whilst getting upset about it, getting her heart broken.  A brilliant bloke enters her life, treats her so well and yet, she dismisses him and turns into the heart breaker that she once was so used to being hurt by.

Are there any plans for the next few months….any shows? Further releases? A holiday in the sun?

Oh my gosh a holiday in the sun, I can’t remember what that’s even like! That would be amazing. I have some online free shows coming up – This Friday 11th at 8pm actually! I have some new visual content being released soon too which I’m looking forward too.

I’ve recently read that Kurt Cobain’s iconic grunge cardigan worn on Unplugged sold for over $300,000. A while back handwritten lyrics for A day In The Life by John Lennon went for over a $1,000, 000. If you had several shedloads of money what piece of music memorabilia would you splash out on?

Wow crazy money! And a great question. If such a thing exists, I’d love a Kate Bush notebook with all her song ideas and notes in, that would be cool. Also, not technically music related, but maybe one of Michael Flatley’s tap shoes because I just love him.

I’ve been reading about rock star riders. From Marilyn Manson demanding Danone Yoghurt and Gummy Bears to Pharrell Williams and 26 others with him being entertained by belly dancers whilst getting through 20 crates of vodka, 15 magnums of champers and a further 20 crates of Bacardi! Of course, I don’t if this is true. Anyway, what would you have on your rider when you hit that level of madness?

Another great question! Plenty of carrot cake would be required and maybe someone who can make really good espresso martinis every now and then. Maybe Michael Flatley could come and entertain with his fellow cast members? Then David Attenborough could join to come and wind us down with his voice. Oh and prosecco. Some of that too.

Of course, once you reach that level of fame and madness you will be able to choose any band/artist in the world to be the support. Who would you choose and where would you want to play?

I would love to choose female artists who have helped me on my journey to come and support, I’d love to invite other up and coming female artists of that time, to give them a platform to perform. I’d love to play somewhere outdoors in LA, the beach at sunset.

If we were to come to your neck of the woods for a weekend where would you take us? You are the Entertainments Committee!

Ha! Somewhere a little further up the motorway with more going on!

Is there a question that I should have asked? Please write the question then answer it.

I think your questions are unique and I have never had these kinds of questions before. I don’t think there is anything else you should have asked.

Thanks so much for taking the time for Clunk. When you get out on tour don’t forget Carlisle!
