Jessica Luise……A Clunk Back and Forth Interview

Hi Jessica…..welcome to the Clunk universe

Can you remember the title of the first song that you wrote, at what age and what was it about?

The first song I ever properly wrote was a song called Fly With Me, I must have been about 16 because it was with my old college band! It was about space!!

‘Television Mister’ is your latest release. What was the inspiration behind the song?

I watched a film with my mum and dad and instantly had a fangirl style crush on one the main characters! I wrote Television Mister all about the playfulness of crushing on a film character and how often real people don’t live up to the expectation given to us on the screen

What are your plans for the next few months? More songs released? Any gigs coming up? A holiday in the sun?

I’ve just been told some wonderful news that I can’t quite release yet but it involves new music! I have a few gigs mainly supporting Liam Hillyer in Deansgate early September!

I’ve recently read that Kurt Cobain’s iconic grunge cardigan worn on Unplugged sold for over $300,000. A while back handwritten lyrics for A day In The Life by John Lennon went for over a $1,000, 000. If you had several shedloads of money what piece of music memorabilia would you splash out on?

I’m honestly not too sure! I’ve never really been one for collecting memorabilia, possibly something to do with Fleetwood Mac, especially Stevie Nicks. To own something that she has owned would be a very special thing to own.

If you could have any band or artist in the world as your support who would it be, where and why? Presume that money is no object!

I would straight up go to some of the bands in Warrington first, they know who they are and they are always supporting me! It would be really cool to have someone like blossoms or Jade Bird

I’ve been reading about rock star riders. From Marilyn Manson demanding Danone Yoghurt and Gummy Bears to Pharrell Williams and 26 others with him being entertained by belly dancers whilst getting through 20 crates of vodka, 15 magnums of champers and a further 20 crates of Bacardi! Of course, I don’t if this is true. Anyway, what would you have on your rider when you hit that level of madness?

I was actually speaking to a friend about this the other day and if probably want something special to the town I was playing in like a food item or just a souvenir! And then I would love to have an item of clothing commissioned by a local fashion designer/independent artist – I really cherish items in my wardrobe that are handmade and unique!

If we were to come to your neck of the woods for a weekend where would you take us? You are the Entertainments Committee!

Well, I currently reside in Manchester and I know a good few bars here now! But I would really want to take a trip to Warrington too, my musical home and show you a place called Vintage Viola where my friends run an amazing Charity Shop in support of the River Reeves Foundation! And then obviously we can go for a pint

Any bands/artists that you recommend we check out?

– A.V. Club

– Uno Mas

– Abi Rose Kelly

All big in Warrington, all absolutely amazing!

Thanks for taking the time for Clunk Jessica. Don’t forget to come and perform in Carlisle.
