Blonde Diamond release video single ‘Red Flags’.

Vancouver outfit Blonde Diamond have a new video release. Did you know that their debut single back in 2016 ‘Feel Alright’ peaked at No. 6 on the Spotify Viral Charts within a week of its release. With that sort of form we thought you might fancy a look and a listen. Enjoy then read on.

This is what director Brandon William Fletcher has to say:
“Red Flags is the ease of which we ignore the blaring warning sounds around us, here represented as slasshic horror movie tropes. Borrowed visual shorthand from familiar titles like the original Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street set up typical boo-scares that this team leaves us hanging. We wanted to build a sense tension for three and a half minutes, similar to that uncomfortable warning deep inside that we continuously ignore when we’re doing something bad for us. A whole video of edging that never quite comes to completion.”
Quote from lead singer Alexis Young:
“For this music video, we wanted to find a way to subliminally convey the emotional and physical toll of abuse as an ominous presence lurking from the shadows. In the push/pull of tension-building moments, we never reach the climax due to the ignorance of our main character. “

The long awaited dawn of a new chapter for Blonde Diamond has begun with the release of their new single “Red Flags,” out today on all DSPS.

On the single, the band said, “Red Flags is a retrospective of moments leading up to the realization that a seemingly fairytale romance has slowly evolved into a dark, twisted, and manipulative stronghold,” said lead singer Alexis Young. “It’s the moment of clarity: realizing that walking away is stronger than trying to tough it out. And more importantly, understanding that you cannot try to fix someone else at the expense of your own well-being.”

Inside the first few bars of the track, the group grabs you with all the hallmarks of their signature sound: energetic drums, slinky keys, dreamy guitars, groovy bass, and intimate vocals. It’s the perfect summation of their tagline: what the 60’s thought the future would sound like. Since their inception in 2016, Blonde Diamond has made waves in musical realms across the world. The group’s eagerly awaited full-length debut record is expected in 2022.
