Here it is…Sienne new single ‘side by side’. Give it a listen.

‘Side By Side’, the third single by Sienne, is out on Friday 17th July.

“Crunching in like a finely aged Zeppelin groove, the opening riff grabs you and The crashing drums signal the entrance for stunning vocals. Gravelly, smokey and reeking of Jack Daniels, the frontman delivers a beautiful series of spine shattering lyrics before the bone crushing lead returns.” – Batch Mag on second single ‘Coming Alive’

Taken from the band’s as-yet-untitled upcoming EP, Liverpool band Sienne have announced their third single ‘Side By Side’.  The four piece indie rock band, fronted by Warringtonian singer Calan Nickle, will release ‘Side By Side’ on Friday 17th July. The track follows previous singles ‘Coming Alive’ and ‘Where Is Home?’, both of which will also feature on their yet to be announced EP.

‘Side By Side’ is a striking track with lyrics based upon a very personal place. While the single takes a slower pace than the band’s previous releases, it stirs up an emotive response for the listener with its cinematic feel. Opening with a glistening guitar, the fiery vocals embrace you before the heavy rhythm section bursts in and knocks you sideways. While the band list the likes of The Stone Roses and Manic Street Preachers as influences, more recent acts such as Blossoms and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds also run through their music.

Frontman Calan Nickle says of the single:

“I wrote this song just under a year ago after finding clarity from a low point in my life, I found myself asking why I was writing constantly about the negatives. I had a little moment where I began to see things clearer and this song was written as a message to myself to let go of all the rubbish going on in my head and that I should embrace the new things happening. I wanted the song itself to match the lyrics in how it starts as a no holds barred cry for help, and the understanding comes as the song progresses. For me the song itself is a long, long road from being in a bad place to finding clarity and I think it came to life once we’d finished it in the studio, it’s a very personal song and one that defines what we are as a band, it came from nothing, a darker place and ventured forward into the unknown.”

Sienne have had both previous singles played on BBC Introducing Merseyside, as well as a multitude of independent radio stations across the world, and their debut single ‘Where Is Home?’ was premiered at the Liverpool vs Manchester United match back in January 2020.
