Looking for some classic 80s poptastic tunes? There’s a few here. Kicking off with ‘Rain’, a disco beat that should get you started into some sort of groove. It doesn’t let off as the following tracks are ‘Worlds on Fire’ and ‘Reach Out’.A 2024 remaster of ballad ‘In My Arms’ slows the tone. It gets a bit ploddy in the middle of the album until it gets a pick up from the track ‘Boy’, classic sounding Erasure, as is ‘How Can I Say’. Possibly the best track is the penultimate, ‘Save Me Darling’. Naturally enough the whole thing finishes with a ballad, this one called ‘Love Affair’.
There’s a second CD in this hardback package, it’s full of remixes and extensions by the likes of Blancmange and Stealing Sheep amongst others. If you are a fan of Erasure you will want this, if you never were then you won’t. If you’ve never heard of them you may want to check this out.
Produced by Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Liars, Yann Tiersen), and Neil McLellan (The Prodigy), the album was recorded in studios in sunny Spain and in London, and released in North America on Madonna’s Maverick label. This new edition of Erasure is packed with a booklet that features sleeve notes by Electronic Sound’s Mat Smith and exclusive photographs by Peter Ashworth, and includes three previously unreleased remixes, along with B-Sides, demos, classic remixes, an extended version of their cover of Blondie’s ‘Rapture’, and rarities – full tracklisting below
