Gary Numan in Newcastle and evidence of alien life.

One thing I was not expecting from the DeClunk trip to Newcastle; evidence that they walk among us. It is clear that two extra terrestrials have beamed down to join Gary Numan on the 45th anniversary tour of Replicas and The Pleasure Principle. Probably from the planet Moog, these homosuperiors wore all black, including some sort of long black skirt and a black line down the middle of their faces. Two aliens, brothers from the same temple. The senior one seemed to be giving out messages throughout the show, through the medium of hand gestures. I don’t know what they meant but I am now a believer. I think they were controlling the light show with their minds. Look at the pictures so that you recognise them when you’re going about your daily business.

What about Gary Numan?, I hear you ask. This is my first Gary Numan show and I would recommend it to anyone. Perhaps we should be encouraging a few more youngsters, under 40, to embrace the two albums that are being celebrated on this tour. Replicas and The Pleasure Principle have reached the 45 year mark. The album tracks were intermingled rather than the obvious choice of just playing one album then the next. It worked, the tracks had new life and new energy. Gary smiled frequently, enjoying himself as he bounced from guitar to keyboard to vocals. I could see one lad, about 10 years old with his family, up in the balcony dancing and singing for the whole gig. Gary Numan’s voice is still strong, he moves and sways far more than I was expecting. The show finished, naturally, with Cars and Are Friends Electric. A memorable evening with Gary Numan and his extraterrestrial friends. Grab a ticket if there are any left.
