Here at DeClunk we love a bit of Bodega and Gustaf. The good news is that both bands have new material on it’s way this Spring. Gustaf release their second album called Package pt. 2 on April 5th. The album is produced by Erin Tonkon, who worked on David Bowie’s Blackstar. You can pre-order on lovely translucent emerald green vinyl.

mmmm…..lovely
There is a single release from the album. Give it a listen. If you haven’t got into Gustaf yet then the time is now!
So, what news of Bodega I hear you ask. Well, on the 12th of April a new album is released. Hurrah! This will be the third album by the band and we have little doubt that it will be as good as the first two, Endless Scroll and Broken Equipment. The new album is titled Our Brand Could Be Yr Life. There is a single already released. Read all about it from Bodega Ben then give it a listen below.
Tour dates for both bands are further down, at the moment just US dates. As soon as there is news of them heading to Europe and the Uk you can be sure that we will let you know!
Greetings everybody —> hope the new year is treating you right.
I’m writing to tell ya that the third BODEGA full length OUR BRAND COULD BE YR LIFE drops April 12th on Chrysalis Records (!). I produced it myself w/ Adam Sachs mixing + engineering (who also worked on Broken and Xtra Equipment). I think it’s our best one yet by a long shot (although I am biased). It’s a ‘remake’ of a record me + Nik’s old band Bodega Bay put out in 2015 altho it has some brand nu one’s too.
The first single ‘Tarkovski’ is not a mispelling —> it’s a pun on the Russian director (Andrei Tarkovsky) and snow skiing. I chose it mostly cuz it’s looks cool spelled w/ the ‘I’. If you saw us live last year you might remember it (some people even requested ’Tchaikovsky’ a few times which is an understandable mishear for a musical mind). The music vid, directed by Luca Balser, quotes Tarkovsky’s ‘Nostalghia’ and stars Nikki’s mom. The jam in the middle is the closest we’ve come to capturing our live drone improvs in the studio —> Dan Ryan takes flight.
Every single from this record has an accompanying b-side (although for now they will only be available on Bandcamp). The Tarkovski b-side is called ‘Adaptation of the Truth about Marie’ (based on the Touissant novel ‘The Truth about Marie’). It’s one of my favorite tunes we do so don’t sleep on it.
Me, Nik, Dan, Shumski, and the Professor look forward to seeing everybody on the road this year. We have a lot of surprises planned. You can pre-order the vinyl if you want (Nikki did a superb job on the liner notes).
Love,
BODEGA BEN.
