The Lovely Eggs are back at it. There are some shows coming up in October and if you want to go you best snap up tickets quickly. Anyway, ticket prices are around 20 quid, which is millions of pounds fewer than buying an Oasis ticket, for twenty times the excitement.

There’s a new single out, ‘Death Grip Kids’, The limited run of 7” single is sold out but I guess you can stream it, download it or whatever you do. Here’s a few words from The Lovely Eggs.
“Death Grip Kids is about fighting for something you believe in and not giving up” explains drummer David Blackwell.
“We’ve spent the last 6 years fighting to save Lancaster Music Co-op- a non profit making rehearsal rooms and recording studio in the centre of Lancaster. We both hung out there as teenagers and formed bands, it was a melting pot of alternative subculture in the city and when the council tried to evict us, it was worth fighting for.”
Lancaster City Council issued the eviction order in 2018, but the Eggs rallied round and launched a campaign to save The Music Co-op. Support spread internationally with messages of support from Butch Vig, Abbey Road Studios and from musicians like Sleaford Mods and Gruff Rhys. It made the pages of Private Eye and the I Newspaper. Councillors eventually agreed to quash the eviction, repair the building and give the Music Co-op a long-term lease.
“The Co-op is a place where you can go to form any band you like, with no rules,” said singer Holly Ross. “It’s total freedom and we had to fight to protect that.”
“But it took 5 years for the council to actually do anything! We felt it was a ploy to tire us out and make us give up. But we wouldn’t give up and we still won’t now.”
“Everyone needs to protect underground culture in their own backyard. And Death Grips kids is about that. The endless bureaucratic bullshit they make you wade through in order to reach paradise.”
‘Death Grip Kids/Memory Man’ is released October 25th as a limited-edition Double AA 7” on “Death Grey” vinyl with more out of this world artwork by illustrator Casey Raymond. The A Side features Death Grip Kids as well as one of the band’s first ever songs “True Grit” from 2005 which will not be available digitally, while the flip features a re-release of their digital single “Memory Man” (which has not been previously available on 7” vinyl until now).
