Tropical Fuck Storm’s Braindrops. Classic album that may have passed you by no.3

We all know those classic albums that always come up in conversation. You know the ones, Dark Side Of The Moon, Exile On Main Street, Rumours, Songs For Swinging Lovers, London Calling, In Rainbows and so on. This is the third in our little series of Classic Albums That May Have Passed You By. We give you Braindrops by Tropical Fuck Storm. I guess the place to start is the bonkers album cover. it’s a mish mash of horror, comedy and cartoon and it’s one of those covers that’s always browsed over every time the record goes on the deck. The album kicks off with the track Paradise, and the most brilliant wonkiest guitar opening that you’re likely to hear. You may think ‘What’s wrong with this record?’ or ‘why didn’t they tune the guitars?’. It sets the scene for what’s to follow.

The dishevelled sound of the album all comes to make sense. Gareth Liddiard gives a no holds barred on the vocals, if he sang about hanging the washing out you would know that he means it. The backing vocals and harmonies are equally gutsy. It’s chaotic order, it’s bruising, it’s wonky, it’s close to the edge of madness. It’s all messed up love songs and strange songs about Maria Orsic. If you want to know, look it up. DeClunk gives you one of the great classic albums, so get into Braindrops by Tropical Fuck Storm. And DeClunk are off to see Tropical Fuck storm this Autumn. We suggest you get your tickets too.
