MAY 5, 2026 [New York, NY] – Continuing her exploration into the darker realms of music, Kitten Robot recording artist CROWJANE releases her latest single, “REIGN” today. Fueled by a pile-driving beat infused with industrial flourishes, the single’s proto-minimalist synth punk propels CrowJane (a.k.a. Heather Galipo) into a mad frenzy of organized chaos.
“Musically, ‘Reign’ was inspired by the band Suicide in terms of a synth style I wanted to pull from,” says CrowJane of the song’s origins. Adapting the nihilistic no-wave band’s confrontational analog doom-croon into modern post-industrial/punk bliss, “Reign” is an homage that faithfully honors its inspiration by advancing Suicide’s experimentation. “Since I have a synth/pianist wizard friend/recording engineer, Paul Roessler, to collaborate with, we played around with cool synth sounds using some of the gear at his studio, including an old Steiner-Parker Synthacon, the same synthesizer he used as a member of the Screamers,” she adds.
Politically-flavored, “Reign” describes the struggle of socio-economic oppression that has tyrannized the masses. Through distorted and menacing vocals, she seethes, “(There is) Disdain / (There is) Rage / A defiant age / Break the cage / A defiant age.” She explains, “Lyrically, the song is about an oligarchy having reign over people and making the working and lower classes’ lives hell. Imagine that,” she laughs.
