I know, it looks a bit like Josh is dealing with a nose bleed. His debut solo album is out on the 24th of July. It’s titled ‘New Wave Graveyard’ There’s a single to showcase it for now, ‘Proving Me Right’. You can get it on 7”.

On his debut solo album, he brings together wide-ranging influences, sounds and moods with the same singular vision & flair as one of his much-loved NTS shows. On today’s new single, we get an introduction to the glam side to the record, which Josh describes as his “tribute to bands like Japan, Sparks, ELO, Associates, and Cleaners From Venus.” He continues, “The chorus melody came to me in the shower one morning and I don’t know why. It’s about the type of person who plays the victim because that’s how they get off. Thriving on chaos and confusing as a means of creating passion and intimacy. Drama addicts.”

Josh da Costa imagined his solo debut album ‘New Wave Graveyard’ as a “greatest hits from a parallel universe, classic songs from an alternate reality.” He says, “Instead of trying to home in on one specific vibe or sound, I chose to sort of chameleon my way through my own taste and record collection and try out different approaches to songwriting – as if I were more than just one artist.”
