Today, Josh Da Costa shares new single “Cordelia”, taken from his forthcoming debut solo album ‘New Wave Graveyard’, out on Stones Throw on the 24th of July.

For the past decade, Josh Da Costa has been a quietly influential presence across the New York and Los Angeles music scenes – the kind of musician other musicians call first. From touring and recording with artists like Jessica Pratt, MGMT and Drugdealer to fronting his own projects Regal Degal and CMON, Da Costa has spent years honing an instinct for melody, mood and world-building through collaboration. Now, with his debut solo album ‘New Wave Graveyard’, he steps fully into focus, distilling a lifetime of musical obsessions, strange encounters and scene-hopping into a record that feels both deeply personal and pulled from some half-remembered alternate reality.

Today he shares the starry-eyed latest single, “Cordelia.” After his LA home was set on fire by a serial arsonist, Josh went to live with a friend named Cordelia. By happy coincidence, Cordelia Records is also one of Josh’s favourite weirdo record labels. He explains: ‘“Cordelia” is a sweet song about a mysterious woman. Written as an homage to both a record label and my then roommate who shared the same name, it spoke to the idea that there were secrets behind a closed door that was actually slightly open just a crack. It also touches upon a notion that some songs are psychic and even though this song was written and recorded before I knew certain things, I now know them to be true and – I was right.”
