This is an album we’ve been waiting for this summer. Get hot, get sweaty, jump around, the latest from Maquina is out now. It’s called ‘Body Transmission’. Read some blurb then get it on!
MAQUINA. embody all the sweaty togetherness and euphoria a collective music experience has to offer. The buzzy Lisbon trio have been getting punks to dance and club kids to pogo, “making the bubbles connect a little bit”, with such fervour they routinely pack out venues and inspire multiple waves of crowdsurfing at any given live show. Following relentless touring across Europe, a first tour of Brazil, a KEXP performance as part of Trans Musicales 2025, and a run of explosive UK shows that sparked mosh pits everywhere from The Great Escape to a headline show at London’s The Dome, the band now unleash their second LP, ‘BODY TRANSMISSION’: a headbanging trip through high-energy noise rock, motorik metal and industrial punk that never stops moving.
Co-produced by the band alongside Hugo Valverde, ‘BODY TRANSMISSION’ bottles the raw power of MAQUINA.’s now legendary live shows while pushing their songwriting further than ever before. Where 2024’s ‘PRATA’ thrived on improvisation and the flow state of live performance, this time Halison Peres (drums/vocals), José “Mendy” Rego (bass) and João Cavalheiro (guitar/effects) traded sprawling jams for tightly honed, three-minute bangers. “We wanted it to feel heavy, focused and relentless,” say the band. “We kept the tempo up and the energy peaking. It’s an ‘always-on’ record.”
The result is a full-body rush geared towards the dance floor with no breaks. Blending techno, EBM, thrash metal, noise rock and industrial punk into something entirely their own, ‘BODY TRANSMISSION’ captures the intensity, physicality and catharsis that have made MAQUINA. one of Europe’s most exhilarating live bands. Preceded by the double drop “pleasure/pressure“ and “agony“, the collaboration with Barcelona’s Dame Area“dança“, and the band’s first ever instrumental track “simulation“, the album now arrives in its complete, brilliantly unrelenting form.
